HUNIGER Anti-Tick Powder, 55 g
100% uncalcined diatomite powder for fur, pet housing and yard areas.
HUNIGER anti-tick powder is a fine diatomite dust applied straight onto the coat of dogs, cats and other pets, as well as in the spaces they live in. The formula is 100% uncalcined diatomite, a plant-origin mineral, with no chemicals added. One 55 g sachet covers two medium-sized animals.
Mechanical action, no chemicals involved
The ground diatomite particles cut through the tick's outer shell and draw out its moisture, so the parasite dies of dehydration. Depending on the level of infestation this takes from 3 days to 1–2 weeks. The product is a basic substance under Art. 23 of EC Regulation 1107/2009 and is neither a biocide nor a plant protection product.
Application onto the coat of dogs and cats
Spread the powder evenly by hand or with a duster and rub it in gently, paying particular attention to the areas around the head. Keep it away from the animal's eyes and nose. In spring and autumn repeat the treatment every 10 days.
Barrier treatment for cages, kennels and yards
Beyond the animal itself, the dust is spread in the spaces it occupies: cage, kennel, bedding. A dry flat brush works well for cracks and rough surfaces, while on lawns a thin layer is applied along the perimeter and around trees. Keep the layer thin so ticks walk through it.
Works dry: reapply after rain
Diatomite loses its effect while wet, so outdoors the treatment is repeated after heavy rain, and indoors, in case of a strong infestation, once a week for a month. Wear a mask or other nose and mouth cover when dusting, and remove residues with a damp cloth or a HEPA-filter vacuum. Shelf life is unlimited.
