JUNIPERUS BLUE CHIP

Blue Chip Creeping Juniper, 1 L Pot
Silvery-blue groundcover juniper that stays low and spreads wide.

Blue Chip is a creeping juniper cultivar (Juniperus horizontalis 'Blue Chip') that forms a dense evergreen carpet across the ground. Supplied in a 1 L pot, it's a natural fit for slopes, rock gardens, retaining walls and borders.
Low groundcover for slopes and rock gardens
At maturity the juniper reaches roughly 20–25 cm in height while spreading 2.4–3 m wide. On sloped ground it holds the soil in place and helps control erosion. It also works along walkways and foundations, or trailing over retaining walls.
Silvery-blue foliage with a winter purple tint
The foliage stays silvery blue-green all year round. In winter the tips turn mauve to deep purple, keeping the garden interesting through the cold months. The plant also carries small, round, blue berry-like cones.
Tolerates drought, heat and poor soil
This juniper prefers full sun and well-drained soil, and does best in dry, sandy ground. It copes with hot weather, lean soils, salt and urban air pollution, which also makes it a good choice for coastal gardens. Avoid wet, waterlogged spots, since standing water can cause root rot.
Planting with room to spread
For mass plantings, space plants 1.8 to 3.6 m apart so the carpet closes in without overcrowding. Growth is moderate. The cultivar is hardy down to USDA zone 3, well within Bulgarian winter conditions.
