3M Speedglas G5-03 E Welding Helmet with G5-01/03NC Auto-Darkening Filter

Darkens in 0.1 ms and shows a large 107 x 55 mm view — weld, cut and grind in one helmet.

The 3M Speedglas G5-03 E is an auto-darkening welding helmet fitted with the G5-01/03NC filter and Natural Color Technology, built for MMA (stick), MIG/MAG and TIG welding plus cutting and grinding. Its 107 x 55 mm viewing area covers welding shades 8–12 and shade 5 in CUT mode. The polyphthalamide (PPA) shell weighs 220 g without headband and filter.

0.1 ms switching — eyes protected the instant the arc strikes

The G5-01/03NC filter in the 3M Speedglas G5-03 E switches from light to dark in 0.1 ms, so every arc strike is absorbed by the helmet instead of your eyes. Three arc sensors track the arc and reduce unwanted opening in obstructed positions. UV and IR protection is permanent at shade 12, even when the filter is in its light state.

GRIND and CUT modes — one helmet for the whole job

Beyond welding, the 3M Speedglas G5-03 E offers a GRIND mode (light state, shade 3) and a CUT mode (shade 5), so you keep one helmet for cutting, dressing the weld and welding itself. The 8–12 welding range covers MMA (stick), MIG/MAG and TIG, including low-amp TIG work.

Natural Color Technology for a clearer view of the weld pool

The G5-01/03NC filter on the 3M Speedglas G5-03 E uses Natural Color Technology, making colours and edges look more natural in both light and dark states. The 107 x 55 mm viewing area keeps the weld pool and the surrounding work in sight. Dark-to-light delay is adjustable from 40 ms to 470 ms to match your working rhythm.

Low weight and ergonomic headband for full shifts

The 3M Speedglas G5-03 E shell is moulded from polyphthalamide (PPA) and weighs 220 g without headband and filter, easing the load on your neck over long shifts. The adjustable headband fits head sizes from 50 cm to 64 cm and can be set for height and angle. Its slim, smooth profile with no protruding parts helps in confined spaces.

Compatible with G5 Series filters and consumables

The 3M Speedglas G5-03 E accepts G5-01/03 Series auto-darkening filters, including G5NC, G5VC (Variable Color) and G5TW (Tack Welding), plus the G5 passive filter with shade 10 to 13 lenses. Outer and inner protection plates, front frame, headband and sweatband are all available as spare parts. An optional G5 Task Light kit with its own headband-mounted battery is available as an accessory.
