The Makita DHR165Z 18V cordless rotary hammer is a light, well-balanced tool for drilling in concrete, steel and wood with an SDS-Plus chuck. It offers two modes — rotation only and rotation with hammering — making it handy for installation, fit-out and repair work in tight spots. Supplied as a skin (tool only, no battery or charger) within the Makita 18V LXT platform.
Two modes for drilling and light hammering
The Makita DHR165Z switches between rotation-only and rotation-with-hammering modes. One tool handles clean holes in wood and steel, then masonry holes in concrete for plugs and anchors. Its 1.3 J of impact energy suits everyday installation jobs.
One-touch SDS-Plus chuck for fast bit changes
The sliding SDS-Plus chuck on the DHR165Z swaps bits with one motion and no key. Changing between drill bits and a light chisel takes seconds, saving time on repetitive drilling. Maximum bore in concrete is 16 mm.
Variable speed and reverse for accurate starts
Speed on the Makita DHR165Z is controlled from the trigger up to 1600 rpm, while reverse frees a jammed bit. The gentle start helps you place a hole precisely without skating on smooth surfaces. An electric brake stops the chuck quickly once you release the trigger.
Runs on the Makita 18V LXT battery platform
The DHR165Z works with every battery in the Makita 18V LXT system, from 1.5 Ah to 6.0 Ah and beyond. If you already own LXT tools, you share the same batteries and chargers cord-free. This model ships without a battery or charger.
Built-in LED light and torque limiter
The built-in LED job light on the Makita DHR165Z lights up the drilling area in dark, cramped spaces. A torque limiter disengages the drive if the bit binds, protecting your wrist. At just 2.2 kg without a battery, it reduces fatigue during overhead work.
