The STIHL MSA 300 C-O cordless chainsaw is the most powerful saw in the STIHL AP battery system, developed for professional felling of small and medium trees, limbing and bucking. It ships as a bare tool with a 40 cm Light 04 bar and .325" RS Pro chain, running on STIHL AP series batteries.
30 m/s chain speed for fast cutting
The motor draws 3 kW of power, which STIHL rates as 2.50 kW mechanical output compared with a petrol saw. Rated voltage is 36 V, with a maximum of 40 V.
Three operating modes with a status cockpit
The cockpit on the handle shows the selected program, chain brake status and oil delivery. An oil sensor monitors the tank and warns before the chain runs dry, while the display also flags when the fleece air filter needs cleaning.
Anti-vibration system — 2.6/2.8 m/s² at the handles
The handles are isolated from the motor unit and rubberised for a secure grip during long shifts. Sound pressure level at the operator's position is 93 dB(A).
Magnesium motor housing and IPX4 protection
The magnesium alloy housing takes the knocks of daily forestry work without adding weight. The saw is IPX4-tested against splash water, so damp conditions are no obstacle to work.
Servicing with one wrench: side tensioner and captive nuts
The bar nuts stay captive in the cover and cannot be dropped when changing the chain in the field. Tensioning is done from the side with the bar wrench, and the oil cap opens without tools.
Compatible with the entire STIHL AP battery system
Supplied without battery or charger, the saw runs on any AP series battery and, via an adapter, on AR backpack batteries as well. STIHL recommends the AP 500 S to unlock all power levels, delivering up to 44 minutes of run time.
