Locates studs up to 19 mm deep and live wiring up to 50 mm before you drill.
The STANLEY STHT77587 Stud Sensor S110 pinpoints the centre of wooden and metal studs behind drywall and flags live AC wiring before you start drilling. A digital, home-use scanner with LED indicators and an audible alert, powered by two AAA batteries supplied in the pack.
Stud centre found in a single pass
An LED and a beep confirm the exact middle of a timber or metal stud as the sensor passes over it. The marking hole in the housing lets you pencil the spot without lifting the tool off the wall.
AC live wire detection to 50 mm
A dedicated mode warns you visually and audibly about energised cables behind plasterboard. Handy when mounting shelves, a TV or artwork on a wall with unknown wiring.
Auto-calibration and pocket-sized body
The unit calibrates itself when switched on against the surface, so readings start straight away. At 190 g with a slim plastic housing, it slips into a work trouser pocket or a tool drawer.
Suitable surfaces and limits
Scanning is designed for drywall and similar dry linings. STANLEY notes the sensor will not read through concrete, brick, mortar, render, metal surfaces, ceramic tiles or foil-backed materials, and that it does not locate non-ferrous metals or plastic pipes.
