The Makita DUM111SYX is an 18V LXT cordless grass shear and hedge trimmer that runs two interchangeable blades: one for lawn edges, one for shaping hedges. The blade runs at 2,500 strokes per minute and cutting height is set in three steps: 15, 20 or 25 mm. Batteries and chargers are shared across the whole LXT 18V platform.
Two blades, one tool: lawn edges and hedges
The grass blade handles edges along paths, beds and fences where a mower cannot reach. The 200 mm hedge blade shapes low hedges and topiary. Swapping between them is tool-free, right there in the garden.
Three cutting-height settings: 15, 20 and 25 mm
Pick the setting to match a short edge or longer growth. A fixed height keeps the cut even and clean along the full run of a bed.
1.4 kg with a soft grip for one-handed work
Light enough to steer with the wrist, which pays off when you walk a long border. The handle has a soft rubber coating and a lock-off button guards against accidental starts. An optional telescopic handle lets you work standing up.
Anti-corrosion blade coating and a protective frame
The black coating shields the cutting edges from moisture and plant sap, while the treated edge leaves cleaner cuts. A support frame around the blade absorbs knocks against kerbs and stones.
Works with every Makita LXT 18V battery
The shear accepts BL1815N, BL1820B, BL1830B, BL1840B, BL1850B and BL1860B packs. If you already own an LXT tool, the same battery drops straight in.
