The Makita DHP490Z 18V LXT is a compact, professional cordless hammer drill with a brushless motor and a hammer mode for masonry. Built on the Makita 18V LXT battery platform, it handles drilling, screwdriving and impact drilling. It ships as a body only — no battery or charger — so you can pair it with the LXT batteries you already own.
Brushless motor for more power and longer life
The brushless motor of the Makita DHP490Z runs without carbon brushes, cutting friction and heat build-up. That means a longer service life, better battery efficiency and more work done per charge. It is built for daily professional use.
Up to 65 Nm torque with 20 clutch settings
The Makita DHP490Z delivers up to 65 Nm of maximum torque, enough for large screws and anchors. A 20-stage torque collar limits force to suit the material and stops screw heads from stripping. One tool moves from delicate to heavy-duty jobs.
Two speeds and hammer action for wood, metal and masonry
The mechanical 2-speed gearbox on the Makita DHP490Z offers a low gear for high torque and a high gear (up to 1900 rpm) for fast drilling. The hammer mode adds impacts for drilling brick and concrete up to 13 mm. It bores up to 38 mm in wood and up to 13 mm in steel.
XPT protection and LED light for tough conditions
The Makita DHP490Z uses eXtreme Protection Technology (XPT) to improve resistance to dust and moisture on site and outdoors. A built-in LED with pre-glow and afterglow lights the work area before and after you press the trigger. The keyless chuck lets you swap bits by hand in seconds.
