The RIKEN SUV Snow 215/65 R16 102H XL is a winter tyre for SUVs and 4x4s that see snow, wet roads and dry tarmac in the same season. The tread uses a large number of blocks with dense siping, and the rubber compound is silica-based.
3PMSF marking for severe snow
The mountain-and-snowflake symbol appears on the tyre's official product information sheet under Regulation (EU) 2020/740. Dense siping across the many tread blocks bites into packed snow, and micro-ribs inside the grooves add extra grip.
Water and slush cleared from the contact patch
The number and density of the grooves are set to push water out quickly, and the transverse grooves run at a specific angle to clear slush. That lowers the risk of aquaplaning on melting snow and in winter rain.
XL build with a 102 load index
The reinforced Extra Load build carries up to 850 kg per tyre, which leaves headroom for a loaded SUV with luggage or a trailer. The H speed rating is good for up to 210 km/h.
Silica compound and 72 dB rolling noise
The new silica compound was developed to reduce fuel consumption. On the EU label the tyre is rated C for fuel efficiency and C for wet grip, and its external rolling noise is class B.
