The Riken Snow 215/55 R17 is a reinforced (XL) passenger car winter tyre rated 98 for load (up to 750 kg per tyre) and V for speed (up to 240 km/h). It carries both the M+S and 3PMSF (three-peak mountain snowflake) markings for winter driving.
V-shaped tread for grip in snow and slush
Numerous tread blocks and a high density of sipes bite into packed snow for traction when pulling away and braking. The rubber compound stays soft even in very cold temperatures, keeping the tyre in contact with the road on the frostiest mornings.
Resistance to aquaplaning and slushplaning
The number and density of the grooves are tuned to clear water and slush quickly from the contact patch. Transverse grooves set at a special angle channel water out towards the shoulders.
Silica compound for lower rolling resistance
A new silica compound reduces rolling resistance, one of the factors behind fuel consumption over the winter season. On the EU label the tyre is rated D for fuel efficiency and C for wet grip, with an external rolling noise of 72 dB.
Reinforced XL construction for higher loads
The reinforced (XL) construction supports a load index of 98, meaning up to 750 kg per tyre. The 215/55 R17 size fits 17-inch rims and is common on mid-size and larger cars and estates.
