The STIHL MS 182 petrol chainsaw is built for homeowner use — cutting firewood, limbing and general yard and garden maintenance. Its 35.8 cc engine delivers 1.6 kW (2.2 HP), while the 35 cm guide bar with 3/8" P chain handles the log and branch diameters typical around the home. Powerhead weight without bar and chain is 4.6 kg.

STIHL 2-MIX engine that saves fuel

A scavenging air channel cuts the amount of unburnt fuel leaving through the muffler and keeps exhaust emissions low. The 0.40 l tank extends the time between refills, and its translucent wall lets you check the fuel level before you start cutting.

Anti-vibration system for steadier handling

Buffer elements between the engine and the handles absorb part of the vibration, easing the load on hands and shoulders during longer sessions. The master control lever puts every function under one hand and springs back to the running position after shut-off for a quick restart.

Side-access chain tensioning and toolless caps

Adjustment is made through the side access in the sprocket cover, with no dismantling and without reaching near the cutters. Fuel and chain-oil caps use a bayonet mechanism and open by hand.

Bumper spikes for precise cuts

The sturdy claw stop bites into the trunk and keeps the saw steady as the chain enters, so the cut follows the intended line and the machine does not pull forward. A 280 ml chain-oil reservoir keeps lubrication going through continuous cutting.
