The STIHL FS 261 petrol brushcutter is built for professional landscape maintenance, horticulture and agriculture. It ships with the STIHL 300-3 brush knife as standard and runs a 2-MIX two-stroke engine rated at 2 kW (2.70 hp), with a tool-free adjustable handlebar and a 7.6 kg dry weight without cutting attachment.
2-MIX engine: 2 kW with lower fuel use
The two-stroke unit reaches its rated output at 9,000 rpm and runs on a 1:50 petrol/two-stroke oil mix. The STIHL 2-MIX design cuts exhaust emissions and meets the EU Stage V standard.
STIHL 300-3 brush knife included
The standard cutting tool tackles thorny brush and tough grass and cuts stems up to 20 mm thick. Grass blades, shredder blades, circular saw blades and nylon line heads can be fitted instead, and the large deflector holds back clippings and small stones.
Loop handlebar with ADVANCE Grip, tool-free adjustment
The ergonomic loop handlebar supports the natural sweeping motion over wide areas, and a central clamp sets it to the operator's height. It swivels 90 degrees for transport and compact storage, while the ADVANCE Grip elements and side-mounted trigger lockout allow several comfortable hand positions.
0.75 l tank and manual fuel pump
The translucent tank shows the fuel level at a glance and the cap is secured against loss. The primer pump reduces the number of starter rope pulls, which pays off after longer breaks in work.
Anti-vibration system plus summer/winter mode
Buffers and springs between the engine and the handles limit vibration reaching the hands during long shifts. A slider switches the air routing to winter mode, preventing icing of the air filter and carburettor, while the carburettor compensator keeps power and fuel use stable as the filter gradually loads up.
