The MAXCOM MM428 LIGHT BLACK is a keypad mobile phone with large keys, an oversized font and a stripped-down menu for effortless daily use. It takes two SIM cards, supports microSD cards up to 4 GB and charges over USB Type-C. The box contains the phone, battery and user manual; a mains charger is not included.

SOS button that calls for help

The rear button stores the numbers of relatives or neighbours and dials them in sequence when held down. It is the main reason this model is chosen for an elderly user living alone.

Large keys and oversized menu font

The backlit keypad is easy to find in the dark, while the 1.8" colour display at 160x128 keeps names and digits legible. The menu is pared back to the essentials: a 300-entry phone book, speed dial and spoken digits while dialling.

Dual SIM and FM radio

Two card slots let you keep a personal and a work number in one handset, or pick the cheaper tariff for calls. Beyond the FM radio, the phone adds a built-in flashlight and hands-free speakerphone.

800 mAh battery, USB Type-C charging

Talk time reaches 5 hours and standby stretches to 240 hours. The reversible USB Type-C port means you charge with the same cable as the rest of your devices.
