The DeWalt DCG420N-XJ is a cordless die grinder from the brand's compact 18V XR range, built for deburring, grinding, polishing and detail work on metal, plastics and other materials. It ships as a bare tool, without battery, charger or case, so it slots straight into an existing DeWalt XR 18V setup.

32 mm brushless motor in a 35% smaller body

At 35% smaller than DeWalt's previous 18V XR die grinder, the tool reaches into narrow profiles, corners and cavities. Its 1.2 kg net weight keeps one-handed work comfortable over long sessions. The brushless motor holds its power under load, and DeWalt rates it at up to 447 W max watts out.

Four speed settings from 10,000 to 24,500 rpm

Choose between 10,000, 15,000, 20,000 and 24,500 rpm to match the accessory and the material. Lower speeds keep polishing wheels and plastics from overheating. The top settings suit carbide burrs and abrasive mounted points on steel.

Electronic brake and electronic clutch for better control

The brake stops the spindle quickly when you release the switch, so the tool doesn't keep coasting as you set it down. The electronic clutch reduces kickback if the accessory binds in the workpiece. A rubberised grip and a dust-protected housing are built for daily workshop use.

6 mm and 1/4" collets plus built-in LED

With both collets you can run accessories on metric or imperial shanks, including the burrs, mounted points and polishing bobs you already own. The integrated LED lights up the work zone inside cavities and under structures.

Bare tool for the DeWalt XR 18V system

The N version comes without battery, charger or case. The grinder runs on DeWalt XR 18V batteries, the same packs that power the rest of your XR tools.
