Barrel Washing Soda 1 kg — Cleaner and Disinfectant for Wine Vessels
Dissolves in hot water and strips organic residue from wooden barrels and vats before the new season.
Barrel Washing Soda 1 kg is a sodium carbonate (soda ash) additive for cleaning and disinfecting wooden barrels, vats and other winemaking vessels. The pack size suits home and semi-professional wine and rakia production — one pack covers a 100 l barrel when the vessel is heavily soiled.
100% sodium carbonate formula
The formula contains no fragrances or fillers; the solution breaks down tartar deposits, organic build-up and stale odours without attacking the wood structure. It is an accepted cleaning agent in winemaking practice.
How to use: dissolve in 10 l of hot water
Stir the contents into the water, pour it into the barrel and work it over every stave by rocking or rolling the vessel. After 2–3 hours empty it, rinse two or three times with clean water and leave it to dry.
Dosage matched to how dirty the vessel is
Half a pack is usually enough for a 100 l barrel, while the full kilogram is intended for heavily soiled vessels after long storage. For complete disinfection, sulphur strips are burned in the washed barrel afterwards.
