The KAMININOX rooster-type chimney cowl (item 489358) is made of stainless steel and fits the outlet of a square 250x250 chimney, listed by the store as 25X25CM. Its movable body turns according to wind direction and closes the opening on the windward side. Shipping weight is 4 kg.
Wind-following body against downdraught
The movable body of this cowl type positions its back to the wind, keeping the airflow out of the flue. Combustion in the stove or fireplace stays even in gusty weather while smoke keeps leaving the chimney. The cowl doubles as a rooftop wind vane.
Stainless steel built for permanent outdoor duty
The material is stainless steel, able to take the thermal and mechanical loads of flue gas discharge along with rooftop weather and chemical exposure. The chimney crown stays protected from rain and snow, and condensate is kept to a minimum.
Square 250x250 base for masonry flues
The base is square and seats on flues of the same clear size, as found on typical masonry chimneys. Installation at least 5 m above the firebox is recommended, so the cowl works at lower gas temperature and lasts longer.
