BOSCH GMS 120-27 Professional Detector for Metal, Live Wires and Wooden Studs

Locates objects up to 120 mm deep before the first hole is drilled.

The Bosch GMS 120-27 Professional detector locates ferrous and non-ferrous metals, live wires at 100–230 V and wooden studs behind drywall. It identifies the material of the detected object, shows its centre on the display, and lets you mark the spot straight through the marking hole. The rubberised housing carries IP54 dust and splash protection.

Four object types in one scan

Metal and live-wire detection runs automatically on every measurement, while the wood button adds wooden studs behind drywall. Detection reaches 120 mm in non-ferrous metal (copper), 100 mm in ferrous metal, 50 mm for live cables and 30 mm for timber studs.

Illuminated ring and marking hole for exact marking

The ring around the sensor glows green over clear areas and red above a detected object, with an audible signal confirming the find without looking at the display. The hole in the middle of the housing sits over the object's centre, so the pencil mark goes straight onto the wall.

Material identification on the display

The display shows whether the find is magnetic metal, non-magnetic metal, a live cable or a non-metallic object. The signal arcs build up as you approach, indicating how strong the signal is.

Dual Power: AA batteries or Li-Ion battery

The scanner runs on two 1.5 V LR6 (AA) cells, on rechargeable 1.2 V HR6 (AA) cells, or on the BA 3.7V 1.0Ah Li-Ion pack. Runtime is around 6 h on alkalines and up to 7 h on NiMH, so a power source is always at hand on site.

IP54 housing and automatic calibration for site work

Dust and splash protection plus a shock-absorbing rubber casing handle everyday site conditions. Calibration is set at the factory and runs automatically, so no manual adjustment is needed before measuring.
