The STIHL AX 28 CS cleaving axe is a classic hand tool with a wedge-shaped head and an 800 mm hickory handle. It is built for medium to heavy-duty splitting, delimbing and felling work with wedges, and comes with an impact protection sleeve and safety plate that shield the handle from mis-hits.
Wedge-shaped head splits with less effort
The wedge-shaped head of the STIHL AX 28 CS forces the wood fibres apart from the first strike. Thicker logs open up without repeated swings or a stuck blade.
800 mm hickory handle for a powerful swing
The handle is made of hickory, a tough, resilient wood that absorbs vibration and sits comfortably in the hand. Its 800 mm length gives a long swing and an upright working posture at the chopping block.
Impact protection sleeve and safety plate protect the tool
The sleeve beneath the head and the safety plate absorb over-strikes that miss the log. The handle stays intact and the axe keeps its stability season after season. Note: never drive steel splitting wedges with this axe.
